Individual & Group Tutoring. Project-Based Enrichment

I have extensive experience as a k-12 and adult teacher of all subjects (excepting advanced math and science) and as a teacher of technology to all ages, including technophobes:) I offer specific subject tutoring, as well as project-based enrichment programs tailored to a student's interest. My experience is wide-ranging. I have taught home school groups in mixed age groups, created a wilderness eco-learning program in Hawaii, and managed a computer lab for middle/high school students that also trained teachers and developed technology-based curriculum. I love to teach:)

Hey, my name is Matthew and I'm your new artist.

I am a self-taught sequential, figure, and comic book illustration artist. I've created work for many different clients ranging from murals for high schools, to tattoo designs. I have also been earning a living making drawings of popular comic book characters and selling them at conventions as well as online. You can also reach me here http://www.facebook.com/MatthewShowcase
I am of the mindset that every person can learn to put their personality on paper and find their voice through art. That being said, I would say my teaching style is one of helping the student to find their own style, their own voice first, and then helping them learn to focus and harness it.

My comments on tutoring Drawing : I've been drawing since I was a toddler and have experience teaching art. My areas of expertise are buildings, cityscape, people, landscape, anime/manga style, and more! My mediums of preference are pencils (of any kind), pens (non smudging), and some acrylic paint.

I've been studying American Sign Language (ASL) for over five years. I've taught ASL multiple times at community and church classes with great language success. I have snout four years of ASL interpretation experience ranging from church services to classroom settings to events to guided tours and more. I'm currently continuing my ASL interpretation studies at Valencia College. I'm fluent in this language but I also speak Spanish and conversational French.
Adjustable depending on the client/student's needs. Can be simplistic yet extremely effective in ensuring language acquisition.

I have always had a passion for education, whether it is teaching youth or adults. I have gained about 3 additional years of teaching and now am working in a higher education setting. I hold a degree in special education which focused on the needs of learning disabled students, though required I still maintain the same knowledge of a licensed educator. Along with a degree in special education I own a degree in psychology. Cumulatively, this allows me to grasp a sense of the student’s feelings, emotions and expressions while learning, which in turn makes the session a lot more conducive. I feel I am able to connect with students through their strengths and weaknesses and use that to find the best strategy to ensure excellent learning.
I like to encourage and support my students. Many students don’t want to learn or do not feel they can succeed. When a student is positive and feels t ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

While I was in college I began working as a teachers assistant at a Montessori School, I soon started privately tutoring students after school at the same location. I am a very hard working, organized, and outgoing person. I tutored students in Math, English, History, Behavioral Sciences and also taught private dance lessons.
I was raised in the Montessori teaching environment, so I am very involved with hands-on teaching methods, and relating subjects to real life experiences. I enjoy watching children grow and progress into self-motivated, independent individuals, who are self-confident in many areas. I believe all children no matter what age have the potential to do amazingly well in school and with their education depending on how much individual attention is placed on them, including constant positive reinforcement.

A Little Bit About Me...

I find that incorporating creative and fun learning techniques into academic lessons greatly improves student motivation. I enjoy learning the strengths and interests of the student in order to create opportunities to help them reach their full potential. I believe in using positive reinforcement and natural incentives in the learning process. My experience has taught me that students need to know the boundaries for classroom behavior. I believe this can be done in a positive, guiding fashion that leads to mutual respect of both teacher and student. Activities and projects help bring learning to life, so I enjoy making decisions together with the student which projects they would like to create. For example, we may create the solar system or learn to do a "Landscape" painting.

A Little Bit About Me...

First and foremost, I am passionate about education. I believe education is key to success for any person, young or old, as well as society as a whole. Before starting into my bachelor degree in Social Science Education at UCF, which I will finish in approx. one year, I worked at a Tutor Time in Phoenix, AZ. I worked with babies to 12 yr olds. I also volunteered at a live-in rehab center, which took in habituates and ex-cons. This year I have volunteered on a weekly basis at a local high school and elementary school, tutoring students in reading, writing, art, social studies, and economics.
My teaching style comes from much of who I am as a person. I am easy going and laid back. I enjoy having fun, but not at the cost of flagrant misbehavior. I believe children can and do make mistakes. It takes the proper coach to guide them in a direction of better choice making. As far as learni ... read more

I have been a well respected teacher in the state of Maine for 18 years. My experience has been in elementary education, teaching middle school language arts and social studies, and also training and mentoring teachers to use technology in their classrooms. I currently have my Florida certification and if the opportunity presents itself, would consider a full time teaching position here in the Sunshine state. I sincerely believe that I have the ability to draw on an individual student's strengths. While receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management, I was determined to succeed in other facets of education. In fact, I took several courses in Elementary Education before switching my major. I tutored many students who needed help in the areas of English, grammar, writing, accounting, economics, law,a nd research papers. I helped them gain confidence and motivated them to become self-starters. In addition, I assisted them with goal setting and structure, in order to complete assignments.
I am a very patient individual who will work with each child at their own pace. I believe in highlighting the strengths children possess rather than pointing out their weaknesses. A Little Bit About Me...

During my time as an undergraduate I spent time mentoring kids with anger management issues and for drug rehab at the Police Athletic League's Teen Center in Palm Bay. I did that for over a year. I also interned as a paraprofessional counselor at one of the largest treatment centers for ADHD at The State University of New York at Buffalo. When I started my career in the healthcare undustry I started in training nurses how to administer vaccines and ended up teaching doctors about new pharmaceuticals. In between this I spent some time at Patrick Air Force Base teaching classes on PTSD and Wellness Programs. Recently I have spent a lot of time at Keiser University tutoring students in difficult subject areas.
My teaching style starts with finding out what the student knows and what is the best way they learn. Not everyone learns the same way and it is hard for students to ask f ... read more
