I would describe my teaching style as "facilitator" considering the fact that I am able to come up with questions that lead the students to finding the correct process and answers on their own.
During high school I tutored at an elementary school during two summers for over 300 hours. From January-April 2013 I tutored the AVID program for 17.5 hours a week for all grade levels. From these experiences, I have learned how to encourage and instruct a variety of personalities and skill levels.

Biology is one of my top subjects! Postgraduate research in genetics, with extensive practical experience in gene therapy, transgenics and molecular biological procedures and techniques. I can effectively convey very complex subject material in a simple and interactive way that ensures you will understand the theory and practice of these critical sciences.

Significant practical experience in the hard sciences as a molecular biologist as well as over twenty years of multidisciplinary aviation experience. I have tutored elementary through college-age youth and take pride in helping people grasp how and why things work - not just preparing them for a test. Building a solid foundation of understanding is crucial to future successess, so I focus on that.

Normally I will watch as the student works and when they get stuck is when I would help them. If they do not understand the material I will go back and teach it again. Once they seem to get it I would give one or two practice problems just to be sure they understand completely. I have no issues with repeating things multiple times if it means furthering the child's knowledge.
I have only ever tutored my neighbors two daughters. They both benefitted from it and both of the girls grades went up. Most of the time I would help them with math ,but would also help in any subject they needed, and they would work on their homework as I watched and guided them in the correct direction. If they were truly lost I would reteach the section and try to relate it to something they would better understand. They seemed to enjoy having me over to help and I loved being able to help them when they ne ... read more

I believe tutoring is best done in small goups, ranging anywhere from four to twelve students per class. Due to the large descrepancy of abilities between students, I believe it is important to modify lesson plans over the course of class. I always emphasize hands-on learning and real life examples as essential when learning new concepts. It can not be stressed enough the importance of flexibility when preparing for any class.
During my time as an undergraduate student at New York University I tutored a wide range of subjects to students with varying abilities. I like to encourage and support my students. Many students don’t want to learn or do not feel they can succeed. When a student is positive and feels that sense of pride; he will open himself up more to the idea of learning. Secondly, I will always do readings and visuals to stimulate both areas of the brain to ensure it is absorbed. I also believe in repetition of information once a student comprehends what has been learned. Lastly, I like to be consistent. I have always kept the learning styles very similar. I also explain to the student what exactly is expected of him and how I will do things so he will be fully aware. This way we are on the same page as to what the teaching session will entail.
I have always had a passion for education, whether it is teaching youth or adults. I have gained about 3 additional years of teaching and now am working in a higher education setting. I ... read more

I believe that each child is different and must be taught with that concept in mind. Teaching is motivating each child to want to learn and providing an atmosphere where that desire can develop. Every child has special gifts and as a teacher it is my desire to see those gifts grow and blossom. Everyone has a purpose and teachers are part of defining a child's purpose. I love children and I love teaching. Children are the light and future of our world. AS a teacher, I consider it an honor and privelege to have the opportunity in molding their lives through recognizing and developing their indvidual gifts and talents

I was raised in the Montessori teaching environment, so I am very involved with hands-on teaching methods, and relating subjects to real life experiences. I enjoy watching children grow and progress into self-motivated, independent individuals, who are self-confident in many areas. I believe all children no matter what age have the potential to do amazingly well in school and with their education depending on how much individual attention is placed on them, including constant positive reinforcement.
While I was in college I began working as a teachers assistant at a Montessori School, I soon started privately tutoring students after school at the same location. I am a very hard working, organized, and outgoing person. I tutored students in Math, English, History, Behavioral Sciences and also taught private dance lessons.

I find that incorporating creative and fun learning techniques into academic lessons greatly improves student motivation. I enjoy learning the strengths and interests of the student in order to create opportunities to help them reach their full potential. I believe in using positive reinforcement and natural incentives in the learning process. My experience has taught me that students need to know the boundaries for classroom behavior. I believe this can be done in a positive, guiding fashion that leads to mutual respect of both teacher and student. Activities and projects help bring learning to life, so I enjoy making decisions together with the student which projects they would like to create. For example, we may create the solar system or learn to do a "Landscape" painting.

I have always believed that a person who is shaping young minds should love what they are teaching to their students.
