I have been a counselor at an elementary school and helped in the classroom. Also, I have have been a babysitter for years and helped children with school work, piano, dancing, and much more.
My teaching style is to be supportive and of course helpful; but most importantly, a great listener. children will improve of they are be listened to, not always being taught to.

I will help with Musical Studies, Graphic Design, and Art.

Throughout high school, I had trouble trying to figure out what I wanted to do when I graduated. I took many classes that ranged from Weight Training to Biology. I took many Art classes in which I excelled at. I then took some Computer Technology classes and I loved it. So I figured I would put the two together and took Graphic Design classes. I loved it. I am very competent in using all sorts of Graphic Design programs. I got my first guitar around 8 years ago and just picked it up and learned it. I have been learning ever since. I personally, have taught many people the basics of guitar and gave them the tools to excel in music.

Give Real life experience a try

Experience throughout school, work and personal experience dealing with the mentally challenged and dyslexia. my best friend had a son who was dyslexic and also he had ADD and I got him to trust me in babysitting and I taught him various things. I taught him how to read and write he could not accomplish that on his own. He was 11 at the time and I think with kids you have to be creative to teach them and I am very creative. I also have an aunt who is mentally handicapped, and I love spending time with her she is a very giving person. They teach me and it is always a joy to work with them and give something back.
Hands on approaches mixed with worldly knowledge, and a very patient style.

As a teacher, I have a strong believe that children have different forms of learning patterns. Some learn by writing , some by drawing and some memorizing. Over the course of the last 10 years both in the workplace and earning a 4 year degree I have learned many important skills in the areas of math. reading, and writing. I have had to used these skills in research papers, class projects, creating reports for VP of companies, creating profit margins and so on.
After rising 3 children of my own I have come to realize that children learn at their own rates. It is important to encourage and persuade children to grow their skills. Often if learning is made into fun games and puzzles the children respond positively and will want to learn more.

Teaching is a very fulfilling experience, a special connection is made between teacher and student especially when understanding on the students part is reached. That is what makes it fulfilling, seeing the progress and understanding of the student develop. I believe everyone can learn, we all think differently and are unique but if presented in the right light all can comprehend any subject. I enjoy the challenge of helping students understand the material in a different light, figuring out which method of thinking works best for that individual student. My goal is to help them succeed.
I took two years out of my college career at BYU to serve a full time church mission in Ecuador. In Ecuador I learned to speak Spanish fluently and while there taught multiple hours everyday to educate others about the gospel. I like to use an interactive teaching style in which there is lots of discussion between teacher and student. This provides immediate feedback on the student's understanding, enabling me to adapt the teaching session to provide the most benefit. I love biology and teach with enthusiasm. I believe all students can learn and perform well if they are given the opportunity to become interested, to ask questions without fear, and get clear explanations in multiple formats until they understand. I also feel poor grades are often due to poor testing skills rather than lack of knowledge. This is easily fixed with practice and opportunity to develop confidence in your abilities, at which point testing becomes fun rather than frightening.
I have degrees in a wide variety of scientific fields including a BS in zoology, a BA in chemistry, an MS in ethnobotany, and a PhD in physiology and devel ... read more
