I have a great desire to pass the knowledge I was so fortunate to receive from my teachers and mentors, to others so that they may learn how to make better decisions in their own lives. I believe the role of a teacher (tutor) is to motivate students to want to learn. Summary of experience: I have a year of tutoring experience on statistics at St. Cloud State University. I helped create solutions for homework, hold tutor office hours to assist students, grade their homework, and create study materials for exams. I was also an at-risk youth counselor at the Catholic Charities for six months.
Teaching Style I prefer to let students learn according to their style of learning. Fortunately, with my MBA almost completed, I am a master in learning during crunch time. As a tutor, I will first identify the existing learning gaps from the student. Then I would arrange the sequence of the learning objectives, and the time necessary to complete these objectives. Finally, I will arrange for mini-tests to let the student apply and reinforce their knowledge along the way. Parents’ support is crucial in all the stages.
