I know how to help students study and learn. I can teach ways to get important information from notes and textbooks to help students complete assignments and increase test scores. I am very patient and if a student doesn't understand a concept the way I am presenting it, I will try other ways to present it until the student understands. I also desire to increase a student's love of learning. As a former English major and editing minor at Brigham Young University I helped many students write and edit research and English papers. Along the way I also had the opportunity to edit an engineering Master's thesis. I have tutored in paper writing in various subjects as well as specifically tutoring in creative writing. I have worked with and on over thirty papers. I work very well one-on-one with students and am able to explain and teach what is necessary for better papers for the present and for the future. All of my students have received A grades on their papers.
I am able to help students build their papers from the bottom up and go through completed papers and give assistance. I have a daughter that is hearing impaired and has a langauge processing disorder. I also have a teenage son that is extremely bright, but a little lazy at school work. Teaching and watching them learn has shown me all children can learn, but they do it in different ways and at different speeds. I graduated Magna cum Laude with Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Resource Minor in 1990. I taught special eduction K-3 one year and K-6 for three other years where I restructured the special education program to bring it up to research based best practices. I supervised nine aids, three assigned to my classroom and six to individual students.
