My teaching style generally varies based on who I am tutoring/teaching. I generally treat my students as adults and under the assumption that they will go to college. I also tend to go a little beyond what is covered in the subject (especially in math) as a preparation for whatever course may come next (i.e. I would probably give a prealgebra student full fledged algebra work in order to prepare him/her for the next year).

A Little Bit About Me...

I have had 25 years teaching experience in the Texas public schools. I have taught mostly U.S. History in the middle schools but included in this was geography and the U.S. Constitution. I have also taught GED preparation to displaced workers in El Paso, TExas. Included in the GED was basic science and math. Before coming here, I was a supervisor for teaching interns at Angelo State University. My teaching style is very flexible. Because I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults, the ability to adapt to the learner's ability level is especially important. Not all people learn at the exact pact, therefore, flexibility is essential as well as non traditional teaching methods. Some non traditional teaching methods I have applied include interpreting math problems through real life situations.
