I think tutoring students involves a lot of different techniques, considering students learn different ways. I found being patient is probably one of the most important parts of teaching. I worked with probably the hardest age group, freshmen. I learned that repetition was a great way to get them to learn. In math I would have them do the same type of problems with different numbers numerous times. This technique really worked and I was able to teach anybody. Although it took me 15 years to obtain my B.S. in Business Management, I do not view that as a disadvantage. My travels with my military husband enriched my education by enabling me to experience different cultures, and by giving me the opportunity to meet, live among, and work with people of many different backgrounds. My tutoring will generally involve a brief explanation of theory and background, followed by one or two fully worked examples (if applicable). Then exercise problems or homework questions will be worked by the student. I encourage students to memorize the procedure of a solution.
