My teaching style is best described as adaptive. We all learn differently, some more so by doing, others by seeing or listening, and others by thinking it through. Learning is a combination of processes, emphasizing what works best. For me, the approach is to use what works best for the student to learn what needs to be learned, with the underlying objective of the student learning how to learn - meaning a self-awareness of what works best for him or her. The tough learning is slugging it through the stuff that we just don’t seem to get or seems to have no value in our future lives. I love teaching all ages, nearly all subjects. I understand that everyone has different styles of learning. When teaching to a group, ideally all styles would be touched on (auditory, visual, hands-on). When working one-on-one, though, it is possible to teach towards that individual's particular style of learning. This works so much better than a one-size-fits-all method of teaching.
