A Little Bit About Me...

As a fourth year special education teacher, I have an extensive repertoire of strategies to help students learn. Having worked with both disabled and nondisabled children, primarily in small group and 1:1 settings, I have developed an acute sense of each of my students' learning styles, strengths and needs. Previously, I have tutored in math, social studies and study skills at the upper elementary level. Over the years I have worked with students between the ages of 2 to 21, addressing a wide range of educational and developmental needs. I am Highly Qualified to teach at the elementary level (K-6) and certified in K-12 general special education. My BA in English also permits me to work with older students in reading and written expression. Coming from a family of teachers, the importance of education has always been stressed to me. The emphasis was placed not only on succeeding academically, but also to gain a true understanding of the subject matter. I hold an Associates of Applied Science in Community Service and Leadership and graduated Magna Cum Laude. I also hold a Bachelors of Science in Family Studies with a concentration on early childhood education and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I have an extensive knowledge of reading, writing and grammar and have always scored well into the 90th percentiles on standardized tests in these areas. I completed studies in French I, Spanish II, Modern Greek, and am fluent in American Sign Language.
