My comments on tutoring Microsoft Access : I have been using Microsoft Access for over 17 years.

As a lifetime learner, I like to share my love of learning with others. My specialty is helping those who have difficulty learning something. I love math but like to teach it so it can be applied to life situations. I believe technology can help us learn but can also overwhelm us. As a special education classroom teacher for two years, test scores for special education students also went up for two years.

My comments on tutoring Microsoft Access : Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. I have worked with Access for 20 years from from older versions to 2010 version.

Worked about the last 20 years in the actuarial field (short stint away to get my degree), which involves data analysis in excel and access and some programming. I received my bachelor's degree in Mathematics with a minor in statistics in December of 1998. While in school I graded lower division math papers for my teachers, I taught a basic programming language as well as ran a classroom for a virtual teacher (video taped class)
I believe the best way to learn is hands on experience. If I don't find one way to help the student understand I will do my best to try another approach. I have 3 kids under 10, so I am patient with small children, but I expect them to be focused.

All students need individualized attention, but it is also important to have team building skills inherent in the coursework so they learn to both help themselves and others. At UCR, I was a "drop-in" tutor. This means that for hours of the day in a room with 6 chalkboards, I would teach math to any UCR student who wanted to learn and answer their questions. There was hardly any down time at all; I was constantly working. I had a team of tutors that I first worked with, then managed as a mentor in my last year. As a Mentor, I kept the team's understanding of the curriculum solid as a group effort. The mentors and the tutoring program coordinator held weekly meetings with regards to our various tutoring teams.
