Recognizing that each person has his/her own learning style, I emphasize "application" of material learned. I believe in a multi facet teaching style. Children learn by many different ways. Some children learn by audio, visual, or kinetic. So, I would teach in a style that suited by the student's needs. A Little Bit About Me...

I presently teach at a K-12 private school for students with learning differences. I have taught students in all grades, K-12. This year, I have been a remediation teacher in reading (decoding), math, and writing. In math, I am comfortable teaching through geometry. I have 10 plus years teaching students with dyslexia and other reading deficits with their decoding and spelling skills. Through programs that implement Orton-Gillingham approaches, I have found great success.

At the undergraduate level, as a high honors student, I took the opportunity to tutor psychology and biology undergraduates. I also received a TA position for Research Methods in psychology. I also volunteered for 2 years mentoring underprivileged Junior HS students. I continued to teach and tutor when I entered grad school. I received two TA positions, one teaching general biology labs and another teaching anatomy and physiology labs. In my second year of graduate school, I worked at a science and math magnet school for HS students, managing student projects in the animal labs. As a NOAA Corps Officer, I helped teach new personnel many facets of our day-to-day operations, from instructing new officers on getting their Officer of the Deck qualifications to preparing new survey techs for their hydrographer-in-charge qualification, and new deck hands assigned to my watch how to drive the ship and steer accurate survey lines. At Embry-Riddle, I often tutored friends and classmates, since I had a more advanced background than most of my peers.
