I have been a teaching assistant and tutor for the physics department at Wofford College for two years (starting in 2013). This covers both semesters of general physics, from classical mechanics to waves to electricity and magnetism to optics and modern. I have also taken all of the upper level courses available at the school.
I prefer to meet with students who have already looked at the material and are prepared with questions. We can then approach these problems together and solve anything the student was unable to do themselves. If I notice a gap in the theory behind something. During my course as a math tutor, I’ve found one on one tutoring to be most effective. Each child presented different needs and was receptive to different teaching methods, so I would meet with them individually. I believe each child is just as likely to succeed as the next one, and as a tutor, it is my job to encourage and instill confidence in them.
