For many years I have worked with youth, and I hope to continue doing so. I love children and have a passion for mentoring and educating. For the past two years I worked at a YMCA after-school program tutoring children, and assisting in the supervision of the program. I recently finished completing my bachelor’s degree in business management from Liberty University, and have a solid understanding of English, Math, and Science. I am a key believer that education helps a child flourish throughout life. Teaching can be a most wonderful adventure. I believe every child can learn. At times students or overwhelming with new concepts, and they need to be encouraged, and praise until they can accomplish the task at hand. I especially enjoy building the self confidence of students that have failed in an area. I believe their attitude about themselves plays a huge role in their ability to learn. I also try to create a firm foundation of basics so that they are able to easily build on that. I taught a 5th grade for half a year in Missouri directly after graduating from college in January. I then taught a 5th/6th combination grade for one year when I moved to Colorado. After my marriage, I did substitute teaching for about 3 years. My most recent teaching experience was eight months of substitute teaching for K-8th grade in 2007. I have periodically tutored over the years in all subjects for students in elementary school.

As an engineer and mathematician I have experience in all areas of Aerospace engineering,including management and mentoring of engineers over much of my 44 year career at Lockheed Martin. I have also tutored math, phyics, and other related subjects. My approach to teaching math and science is to thoroughly prepare a student by first emphasizing the fundamentals. Too many students get "lost" if advanced concepts are taught too soon. Then, once a student is ready, the studies should emphasize the students strengths and interests to the utmost possible.
