I believe education is primarily about learning, not merely making a grade. As I applied this philosophy in college, I realized that where true learning occurs good grades follow. I completed a bachelor's in accounting summa cum laude in 2009. In addition to my major focus in finance and business, I completed a minor in History and took an extensive number of English courses as well. The broad liberal arts framework for my college curriculum taught me not only specific subjects, but how to learn and how others learn. My favorite part of tutoring is working with children who are frustrated with a subject and being able to break it down and teach it to them in a way that they can relate to. Also, the self-confidence the student gets that comes from being prepared for a test is very important.
My freshman year at Clemson I tutored 7th graders in math. I was also a tutor in high school for a k-6 school for children with low-income families. It has always been a passion of mine to help others with grasping a subject.
