In addition, I have a variety of examples and study guides that can make learning not only fun but easy to remember. I tutored a fellow student in Finite Mathematics during college for one semester. I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology, working hard to finish my degree in three years. I recently took online classes in order to achieve my Masters of Science in Education. I have worked as a general paraprofessional in elementary schools for two years and a one-on-one paraprofessional for the last year. I have taught sunday school and afterschool church programs for at least three years and am very involved in my own children's schooling.

I came to teaching as a second career when I realized I was not happy in local politics. I earned a degree in Secondary Education with English certification grades 5-12. I have taught in rural as well as urban schools and schools in between. I have a strong command of grammar and reading comprehension skills. I have lead students in debate teams as well.
I am very straightforward in my style. I really enjoy doing things my way and seeing how the student responds. If the response is not positive then I modify and try again until we get it right. I am very much an auditory person myself so I am very verbal and love to talk things through.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always loved teaching and working with students. My mother is a teacher of almost 30 years, so I have the importance of education ingrained in me. I do believe that every student can learn, some are just a little harder to reach than others. I am trained in a variety of teaching techniques and pride myself on being able to work through the strategies with students to find one that will work. I do believe that there must be a mutual level of respect between teacher and student and so I do work hard to learn about my students' backgrounds and interests to help with my lessons.
