Then, I establish a baseline of what they have learned so that I can direct my attention to their strengths and weaknesses. Finally, I get into the material with the student and show them how and why the material is important and applicable in the world in which we live. I have a Master of Arts degree in US History. I also teach online for a major online university. This has helped to me to understand what a student needs to know in order to succeed in college today. I believe that most students can do well in History or other subjects if they are taught the subject material and studying skills. In the past, I worked at a school for high school boys who had failed in school or who had trouble with the law. I was able to get them to pass US History and, in many cases, to do very well in class. The study skills they learned were able to help them in other areas too.
