A Little Bit About Me...

I would have to say that my teaching style is flexibility. I believe that it is necessary to gauge your students as a group and individually before deciding on which teaching methods would be most effective. I believe that naturalistic teaching is important. I also believe in a form of discrete trial training. It takes some of the basics from Discrete Trial and adapts them to fit the needs of the students that are struggling with certain subjects. Research has proven that all students learn differently and lessons cannot be taught primarily through auditory learning. A teacher especially one in the younger grades must engage in auditory, visual, tactile, kinestics and other learning methods.

I started around 2005 tutoring for the departments of chemistry and math in Queensborough Community College, from the basic levels in organic chemistry 2 and calculus. I earned my Associate degree in science from Queensborough Community College and finished my Bachelor Degree in Stonybrook University. At Stonybrook University also tutor chemistry and math. During the summer 2006, I had the entire department of chemistry tutoring under my guide. My experience comes from teaching my own classes and from interacting with my students.
My style is open to discussion. I like to ask questions to the student about the knowledge they have and based on that, apply my knowledge to build a strong base to be used as a core to solve more problems. I live the one on one interaction but also love the group discussion. I used to tutor an entire classroom during summer for 6 hours straight.

I am a highly dedicated and enthusiastic educator who believes that all children can learn. It is up to the teacher to assess and implement the best method, or variety of methods of instruction for each student. In order to successfully cultivate the motivation to learn or succeed, the teacher must develop a personal rapport by demonstrating respect and compassion for each student. A child must believe in him/herself first, then he/she will believe he/she can learn! It is my pleasure to regularly provide the encouragement and positive reinforcement needed to build the confidence to succeed.
My experience as a teacher has primarily been with students who are struggling with either some form of learning or social/emotional disability. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching and working with children. I believe children learn in different ways. It is incumbent on the teacher to mold his/her skills to the child's natural way of learning. I am available to help your child find academic success. My goal is to provide the best education possible. I am a firm believer in teaching through discovery where the child finds the answer. I believe all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings and learning experiences. A few good educators can make a world of difference in a child's education. I strive to make a difference in all of my students' lives.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that successful teaching begins with engaging the student. If students are given what I call a "hook" something on which to secure new information, then learning can take place. This can be simply piquing the student's interest, building on past knowledge, posing a question or mystery to be solved, or some connection to the student's experiences. I also believe that successful teaching requires a teacher to establish some relationship with the student that allows the student to feel understood and respected. I make every effort to employ methods which acknowledge the student's own learning style, and I like the students to make their own discoveries and connections to the material while providing support and encouragement.

A Little Bit About Me...

Having had pursued a BA in English, not only did I focus on the course material within each class, but even more importantly, I managed to greatly enhance my understanding and knowledge of the English language and its grammatical effects. This has proven more helpful than anything else learned throughout my education, as the ability to accurately compose an idea is simply invaluable. Initially an English Education major for two years, I chose to shift solely towards language arts, though I still am delighted by children and love to interact with enthused students. I have two years of classroom observation activity, as well as several other experiences tutoring students from the ages of middle school all the way through the college level.
