Experienced Math Tutor

I have been tutoring math for the past 2 years, focusing primarily on high school math. I have tutored students taking Georgia's Math 1, 2, and 3 courses (equivalent to Algebra I,II, and III, Geometry, some Trig and some Statistics). I have also assisted students with improving their SAT scores and do SAT tutoring through a private company. I have helped adults prepare to take their GED Math Exam and other college entrance exams. I firmly believe that I am a student-centered educator. My ego is not involved in what I am doing. Each child learns in a different manner. A teacher's job is that of finding out how each student learns and then developing lessons that benefit each student. The same applies to tutoring. It is my job to find out how this person I am tutoring learns. Then I get after assisting this student to learn as he or she learns best. Most people learn by doing - in some way. I have taught 29 years in public and private schools. I have home schooled. I have been a teacher evaluator and a mentor of first year teachers. I have been on the Berkeley County Teacher Forum. I have taken many in-services. The last couple I have taken were Math Solutions and Smart Board Notebook. I am Reading Recovery trained. I am working on a dissertation and hope to finish in December.
