My teaching style is very individualized based on the needs of the student. Some students need frequent breaks to be able to focus in for 15-20 min at a time while others can stay engaged for an entire hour.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated 10th in a high school class of 900. I have a BA in Dance and am currently taking pre physical therapy course work. I teach and train dancers, both in class and one on one. I also teach yoga. When I teach I also am teaching the history of the form, vocabulary, and the anatomy behind it.
I understand that everyone learns differently. I generally prefer a more hands on approach. I attended a Montessori middle school and found it most effective. However, the goal is find what works best for the student.

I am firm, fair, and friendly. I adapt lessons to the student's learning style, bearing in mind what the student needs for success in the classroom. I make learning fun.
In 2000 I volunteered in the local high school's journalism class because of my passion for writing. The following year I was offered a position as yearbook adviser, and I further developed my skills with high school students. Since 2004 I have been a private tutor, teaching all elementary subjects as well as most middle school and high school curriculum. In 2005 I began teaching annual writing workshops at Simpson College for 6th - 12th grade students. In 2006 I attended substitute teacher training, and I began substitute teaching in 2009. I also had the privilege of instructing college students in a Volunteer Income Tax site this year.

A Little Bit About Me...

Since graduating from college, I have been instructing professionals and employees in safety behavior and safety management processes. I have learned extensive grammatical skills in the military, during my assignment as an inspector on the Inspector General (IG) team. I performed proof reading and report writing for two years. My parents were elementary and algebra teachers. There were numerous occasions I assisted them with correcting tests during my high school years. My best accomplishments have been tutoring my four children in their subjects, primarily math, over the last five years.

I had a semester of graduate school at Iowa in Classics. At Tulane, I studied advanced statistics as well as marketing. I had two years of Spanish at DMACC. I also studied Bosnian and German at DMPS Continuing Education. For all standardized tests, I always scored in the top 1% including the PSAT, SAT, ACT and GMAT. While I earned my bachelor's degree in communication from Loyola, I also worked as an Academic coach for high school students. I spent a year tutoring students for an academic competition that tested all skill areas including, writing, math, history and science. I spent the summer of 2006 working closely with people with disabilities. I perfected my teaching skills through hands-on learning/teaching techniques.
