Genuine, personal interest in the child; establishing rapport; establishing the student's mastery level, then building from there (instead of an arbitrary line which creates anxiety); affirmation of every step of progress/success; recognition but careful use of errors in non-judgmental, constructive correction; ease in backing up for review when needed; positive verbal and behavioral reinforcement to the student, including reports to parents about same, all these are things that come to mind. I truly enjoy teaching. I believe that a child can learn anything, as long as they have a supportive learning environment. I belive that I have a unique teaching style. I am a whole language and phonetic teacher. I like to teach my children using the multiple intelligences, because we all learn in different ways. When I incoropate my lessons using the multiple intelligences I see great achievements in each and every child in my classroom. The joy that is shown on their faces when they have mastered reading is a very rewarding feeling.
