I recently graduated from Gordon College with a degree in English Literature and a concentration in Creative Writing. Most of my career has involved some level of teachng or training. I trained new volunteers during the Peace Corps, I taught rural Tunisian families how to use available resources to improve their lives, training natural education instructors and volunteers at the Wells Reserve, traqining and coordinating volunteers within my roles as Executive Director, completing all course requirements for my Maine Teacher Certification, obtaining Ed. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style was both original and personal. I have had the opportunity to travel to many parts of the world, and I brought those varied experiences to my teaching. The students would ask me to tell them stories of my travels. This was partly to get off the subject matter, but they also enjoyed hearing about different parts of the world as qwell.
I taught Language Arts from grades 7-12 for 27 years. I maintained a classroom,organized my curriculum as well as doing interdisciplinary projects. I retired from active teaching in 1999, but I did a brief period of tutoring with a young child with academic disabilities. As an undergraduate, my focus for studies in English were both Critical Literary Analysis and Creative Writing. Analytical writing was stressed heavily, giving me the ability to interpret a text based on intrinsic value. The creative tract allowed me to experiment with my own abilities while keeping in mind strategies implemented by others I have read and studied. A requirement for all English majors at the university was to have intermediate skills in a foreign language. I have taken four semesters of Spanish at the college level with additional language labs. Spanish was also my foreign language of choice throughout secondary school and I have had first hand practice from my work in Guatemala.
