My comments on tutoring World History : I have not only a degree but a passion for history and its related subjects (geography, politic science, government, and social studies), and would enjoy tutoring you in this subject.

I have been teaching Information Technology at both the elementary and middle-school level in private schools in Northern Virginia for most of the last ten years. In addition, I have tutored at high-school level in Chemistry and History. With both a Bachelor's Degree in History, and a Maser's degree in Network Information Systems, I am qualified to tutor in both the Social as well as the Computer Sciences, with an additional capability in Chemistry and Math at the advanced high school level.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of The Criswell College I have earned a BA in Theological Studies. I have also had extensive training in such areas as History, Science, Philosophy, and Theology. I am pursuing at this time a second degree in History from Lynchburg College and will be adding a Masters degree also. My experience in teaching all these areas plus others comes from spending over a year in South Korea teaching English, History, Science, Reading, and conducting seminars in other special interest areas.

A Little Bit About Me...

Through earning my degree in biomedical science, I have accrued a significant amount of experience in both chemistry and biology. My passion has always been for the sciences, but I also minored in International Relations. I am well versed in all of the topics covered in my major and minor as well as several others. I have a great deal of experience training fellow employees and have devised the system of show them once, let them do it once while talking them through it, and then let them do it once without assistance. This system also translates to teaching. The last step is the most important; it forces the student to think for him or herself and instills confidence that the problem is not beyond his or her level of understanding. It is very important to teach students how to figure things out for themselves – probably the most important lesson I learned at UVa. I taught 7th grade Language Arts for six years when I lived in Florida. I collaborated on the team that created the Orange County curriculum for teaching writing to the middle grades. This curriculum is still in use today. I worked for the Princeton Review as a tutor doing SAT preparation both privately and in a classroom setting. This was in preparation for both the verbal and math skills sections.
I believe that students of all ages respond to humor, honesty, and respect. Subjects in which that students have difficulty can be made accessible to them by demonstrating to them the humor in learning something hard and the fun of conquering the subject.
