A Little Bit About Me...

For a period of five years, I offered tutoring services to students at the University of Chapel Hill, Duke University, and North Carolina State University. My ability comes from experience...I was not entirely prepared for college when I started, and had to work much harder to successfully complete my degrees. I believe that this has given me a great insight into what students really need, especially as schools continue to do a less than perfect job of preparing students for the future.
The goal of my approach is to enable students to have a level of ownership in learning concepts and ideas. Merely teaching the idea is not enough, and that "Oh, I see" moment must occur to embed the idea for long-term growth. I enjoy relating the ideas and facts to real world examples that almost anyone can grasp.

Since 1966, I have been teaching/tutoring students in all levels of mathematics. In 1977, I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics Eduation. I consider myself a Mathematics teacher, substitute teacher(60 schools), teacher's aide, tutor, and consultant. I have always loved helping students one-on-one and helping them understand what they are having trouble with in the subject of mathematics. I enjoy math and finding the correct answer for different problems. I like to show students the correct method for solving problems as well as how easy it can be to correctly complete a math problem. I believe that anyone can learn different parts of math if they have the correct resources and teaching style to help instruct them. A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois, I developed a passion for teaching and helping others achieve the academic success that I enjoyed. I tutored during each of my final three years, mostly in the various science classes that I took. During the past year, I have been teaching the Physics section of the MCAT for the Princeton Review, a nationwide test prep company.
