My comments on tutoring Composition : I enjoy writing and the process involved and I would love the opportunity to help others see how much fun it can be to write and see your end product. I'm also a very good writer and I'm skilled at proofreading papers and essays and improving them - ranging from content and sentence structure to simple grammar mistakes.

I try to get my students to find the answer for themselves by asking them questions. Students need to come to an understanding of their material and that won't happen if I continually give them the answers. I'm also very patient with my students. If they don't grasp a concept or topic that we're working on, I will continue to explain it to them in different ways until it makes sense.
I have been tutoring students for about 5 years. I started when I was a junior in high school. My first experiences tutoring were through the National Honor Society. I volunteered after school once or twice per week and I tutored mainly ESL students in Math and English. My senior year of high school and throughout the time I was in college, I tutored a high school student who had educational and developmental deficits. Ed teaching license and have completed all the coursework and have completed my pre-clinicals. I am scheduled to do my student teaching this September in a second grade classroom at Taylors Falls Elementary school. I have extensive experience working with non-native English speakers both inside and outside the classroom. I also have spent over 10 years studying French and spent a semester abroad in France, so I am familiar with all the aspects of language learning both as student and as a teacher. My students read and share their book choices with others. I promote understanding the author and his motives as a lens for comprehension. In order to fully comprehend a written work, a person must spend time as a writer.
