Hello! My name is David. I am a husband and father of 3 children. I graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1998 with a Business Management degree. For the past 13 years I have help different sales positions, but most notably owned an insurance agency. I decided in 2011 to make a career change into Education and recently completed my Masters Degree with McDaniel College. I now hold a certification in Mathematics grades 7-12. I recently graduated from Bard College, a selective liberal arts school in New York. I have taken classes in a variety of subjects including biology, french, history, and writing. I recently completed a 90 page thesis. I have excellent critical thinking and writing skills, which have served me well as a student. As a tutor, I strive to engage my students in thinking complexly about the topic at hand. I have experience tutoring middle school aged children in music, math, and writing. Not every method works for every child; with one exception, patience. I demonstrate and exemplify patience. If a child feels as though they are in an atmosphere where they are safe, free of ridicule and bias, then they are willing to perform. This process can be a give take scenario however. So, some flexibility is required as well, but eventually the student will become more comfortable with themselves and confident in what they are capable of.
