I am a strong believer in mastering a topic as opposed to spitting out the correct response. I also believe in finding one’s main learning style and teaching to it, not that of the masses. The classroom environment seeks to teach the most people the most knowledge in a single shot. Tutoring should seek to teach an individual to their greatest potential. I am finishing up my Bachelors degree in Dietetics at SUNY Oneonta- I will be graduated in December. I have been offered positions as a chemistry tutor but denied because of my other jobs. I was a student mentor for a year in high school to students that were "slacking" or wasn't understanding one or more of their classes. I worked at Albany ARC and worked to train young adults and adults in the kitchen- which also included basic skills such as counting and reading.
I really would like to help make a difference in someone's life and help them understand academics just like myself.
