My style of teaching, especially with tutoring, is to find out what kind of learner my student is: tacit, oral, or verbal. Then the lesson style can be geared to that, while leading the student to become more aware of the other abilities and options. Also, it is imperative that students understand why they are learning what is being presented to them. Cause and effect leads to greater awareness and more objective, analytical, and critical thinking. A Little Bit About Me...

I want my students to become independent readers and writers, but also inquirers. I do this through modeling what I expect them to learn, provide time for guided practice, reteach and model more if necessary, then provide opportunities for independent practice, while giving specifc feed back. There is no 'One size fits all" in education and as a teacher, I will feel like I have been a true educator if I constantly strive to learn more deeply about how students learn and take that knowledge and apply it, but first you have to truly know your students. I believe student centeredness is the trunk and the other components are the branches. Each component is connected to the other and they share common characteristics.
