Hello, all. My name is Stacie. I have over 10 years of experience in Education. I started my career at Sylvan Learning Center. I began as a Program Manager, but also have experience as the Director of Education. My job duties included giving students Diagnostic Assessments, updating each student notebook, tutoring math, reading and writing in the evenings, attending ongoing trainings, contributing to teacher trainings, and meeting with both parents and teachers at schools. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring grades K-9 for quite a few years. I've also taught a preschool class while in high school. I am currently majoring in Early Childhood Education and Special education at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. I am an upcoming May 2006 graduate from Allegheny College, majoring in English. Given my background at a small, liberal arts college and being a former biochemistry major, I have a great understanding of language arts, math and science. My approach to teaching is more of a "why" approach. It is more important for students to know why something is or works rather than just how. This approach works well for middle and high school students. It allows students not only to understand the ideas taught but to apply them to other areas as well. I also like to use visual aids as well as conversation. I have found that many of us vary widely in learning styles. Some are visual learners, others are audio learners, and still others are a combination. I work well one-on-one but also enjoy small groups. I look forward to working with you or your children to produce results they can be proud of.
