Genetics is one of my top subjects! A large component of my graduate research utilized population genetics to answer fisheries questions.

I prefer a relaxed atmosphere of one-on-one teaching with a hands-on approach. I feel that part of the problem, for so many students, is that they are not comfortable approaching their teachers and asking questions. I want to create an atmosphere where there is no hesitancy to ask any question. The student's progress will determine the pace.

As a tutor, I try to identify the learning strategies of my students and then build off of those. For example, if I notice that a student is a visual learner, then I will try to incorporate diagrams, models, and schematics that can assist the student in understanding the subject matter or solving the problem. If, on the other hand, a student learns best by reading, then I will provide step by step instructions of how to find answers to various problems, or provide guidance as to how to identify important elements from a text. After I completed high school with a 4.0 GPA I was hired at a professional tutoring school. There I worked for nearly 10 years with a loyal student base many of whom I taught the entire time.
