International Cultural Trainer (ICT): For many years I have been offering courses to expats from and to the US with respect to general cultural challenges professionals might face when working for their respective companies in the US or abroad. In these trainings (which I also offer tailor-made if requested) we discuss topics such as culture and culture shock, political and historical profile of the respective country, daily life and how to function in society practically (including spare time activities and sightseeing), opinion/stereotypes, core values, self-image, social interaction and public behavior, business interaction and etiquette, language aspects and communication in general, family, children, health care, school system (education), ethnic or racial issues, and religion

Depending on the needs and skills of the students, I will adjust my teaching style. Hence, it can range from being very structured to the loose conversational interaction where I intersperse grammar as needed throughout the instruction. Also, I apply visual and oral methodology with highly interactive elements in all of my lessons, so that the students get exposed to as much real-life situations as possible in grappling with the language. The target language takes center stage from almost the very beginning. During the first few sessions, if students begin from scratch, it will be unavoidable to use English. As I suffered through my younger years with Attention Deficit Disorder, I feel that it is extremely important to appeal to almost all of the senses when teaching. As for myself, I am definitely a visual learner, so I feel that visual aids are important. I am a big fan of hand outs in full color. You will often find me drawing a picture on the board. I feel it is important to hear it and see it, and if you can, touch it. Another important teaching style I implement, is watching my students and making sure they know how to do it.
