I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring than most. I believe I'm an effective tutor because I remember the exact same difficulties and questions I had as a student and can relate to their frustration. Most people as well as myself are visual learners thus I teach by working several examples and gradually increasing the difficulty at a pace set by the student. As a mother of three teenagers, i decided to go back to school and fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a high school English teacher. My 10th grade students have an 85% proficiency rating for the NC writing assessment. I also teach Graduation Project that requires an 8-10 page documented research paper.
