A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been very enthusiastic about learning and always find myself helping others to discover a deeper understanding of a subject. During my time tutoring math, I discovered that there is a necessary balance to allow the student time to process the material without allowing them to get frustrated and giving up. I believe in stretching their mind while providing support to the necessary skills to accomplish the goal at hand. I do great with children. I have often participated in the children's ministry at my church and enjoy the opportunity to teach on that level. Teaching, in some form, has been a part of my life for the last 20 years. During that time I discovered for myself that students learn in different ways. I believe in a positive and encouraging teaching style utlizing varying explanations. I love instructing one on one and seeing the lightbulb turn on when a student gets it. A Little Bit About Me...

From very early on I have been drawn toward teaching. As a student I was a tutor for many of the classes I took. I tutored Chemistry I, Beginner and Intermediate Algebra as well as a number of Accounting classes. When I graduated I immediately began looking for positions that would enable me to teach. I was very lucky to be offered a position as an Adjunct Professor at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. I have held that position since January, 2010 and I love it!
I don't believe in an unteachable student. One of the greatest pleasures I have in teaching is having a breakthrough with a student that has had difficulty. I believe every student has the possibility to meet and exceed expectations with the right teacher! I believe that not every student is the same.
