I enjoy teaching business areas and math -- the subjects were fascinating to learn and are still a joy to explore with students. My favorite moments are "light bulb moments;" it can be frustrating to work on the same thing for a long time, but when a student looks up and finally "gets it," it doesn't matter how long it took. Let's face it; most students do not want to be in a math class. As a teacher, it is my job to present the material in a way that will make students not want to tar and feather me out of boredom while simultaneously communicating the abstract ideas as clearly as possible. However I like puns, and math is filled with wonderful pun making material (like: how to deal with radicals using our rational powers and get to the root of the problem). Consequently, I am pretty sure my students want to tar and feather me, but at least they will not do it out of boredom and they end up with a decent mnemonic device via the pun.
