A Little Bit About Me...

I attended Oakland University and earned a BS in Biology in 2008. Biology and chemistry fascinate me in many ways; however, for teaching purposes, i focus mainly on the academic part of these subjects. I was a member of the Oakland University Academic Skills Center, where i tutored biology, human physiology, general and organic chemistry, statistics and mathematics. Also i was a chemistry supplemental instructor for Organic Chemistry 1 and 2. I think the best way to teach is to show students how they can break down problems and find answers to questions that may, at first glance, seem overwhelming. I have yet to meet someone who is incapable of grasping a subject, and I am able to stay calm and remain patient as students begin to expand their knowledge in areas that are new to them. While I am not able to learn things for a student, my job as a tutor is to provide them with the encouragement, support, and knowledge that I have so that they can obtain an understanding of their subject.
As a recent college graduate, the stress, confusion, and (ultimately) joy involved in the attempt to master new subjects are fresh in my memory. A Little Bit About Me...

I do not believe that there is a single correct teaching style. Each student is an individual and as in any other task we take on, it must be approached in a unique manner. I have tutored enough students to learn that simply put, different children learn differently.
