My comments on tutoring Pre-Calculus : I have tutored and taught Pre-Calculus. I am Texas certified in secondary mathematics.

My specialty, however, is to develop curriculum and courses that meet the needs of students. I have created courses in a multitude of areas. Some highlights are: Drexel Prep: When I was a graduate student in electrical engineering at Drexel University, I found out that the minority enrollment was less than one tenth of one percent of Drexel. I joined a group of professors and volunteer students that developed projects for an after school engineering program. I also created a Saturday basketball program. The result of the programs helped result in a dramatic increase in minority enrollment. Although I feel lecture, guided instruction and practice are a very important part of teaching mathemeatics, it is usually not enough as abstract ideas have difficulting finding relavence with most students. I rely heavily on my past experiences in my engineering career to draw real world examples to bridge this relevence gap. Additionally, I make extensive use of the TI84 graphing calculator to suppliment all lessons possible for the visually and kinestetic learner. I worked at San Jacinto College North as a Math tutor for all math levels for almost 2 years. Then, I worked at Galena Park High School with a 10th grade class in a program called "GEAR UP" for about 1 yr until they shut the program down for funding issues.
