A love of reading is the cornerstone to a love of learning.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and pre-medicine. I have experience working with children who have autism. Elementary education is important to me since it is the foundation upon which later learning is built. I believe that all students have strengths and weaknesses and that each child deserves the opportunity to succeed in school. While psychology was my primary area of study, I am excellent with reading, writing, and medical related sciences. Being a kinesthetic learner I am familiar with the challenges a traditional classroom setup create. My teaching style is highly creative to borderline eccentric! I have extensive training in the various learning styles and instinctively target the student's learning style in order to make the most progress. I am a firm believer in kinesthetic learning activities and of using a hands-on, mnemonic-driven approach to teaching. My varied background and life resume offers life experiences that I can use to expand students' varied situations.
I have enjoyed substitute teaching since 1991; it was a part- time occupation that worked well as I re-entered the college scene in order to advance my AA degree to a BA in Political Science. I love working with children and feel that is my God given talent. I believe that all children can and will learn with the proper time given to them. All children learn differently. As a teacher you have to work on the best way to teach that child. I feel that tutoring you have the full attention of the child. By working one on one the child will benefit greatly.
I have been working with elementary children for 19 years. I have expericence as a Title 1 Teacher Assistant, Special Education aide, Substitute teacher and Sunday school teacher. I have tutored in reading and math. I am currently attending Ashford University to complete my Early Childhood degree in 2012. I will then continue to get my degree in Special Education.
