Finding a way to solve a math problem for every type of student!
I have worked in school setting since 2003. During my time before teaching I had the opportunity to work one on one, push in and pull out to work with multiple students, substitute teaching in classroom, assist principal in disciplining students from the bus, classroom, etc... Worked in an after school program assisting with homework help. My 6 years of teaching have been in emotional support 4-6 and k-2 and 6th grade math only regular education.

I prefer to begin by having the student describe the current subject matter to the best of his/her abilities to determine a starting point. I have found that having the student talk through the subject matter can be useful in determining his/her strengths and level of understanding. I like to have the student work through some problems they have not been assigned from their book/notes so that they are able to practice and work through some other problems before attempting any assignments. I have also found that it is useful to go over any previous quizzes or tests related to the current subject matter as difficulties are sometimes related to previous work because with these subjects the work tends to build upon itself.
I have been selected as a peer tutor through Carlow University for Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.

While attending the University of Pittsburgh I was able to experience my fielf studies and a year student teaching oppportunity at New England Elementary (West Mifflin PA). After school I was instructional assistant at McKeesport School District. This year I was a substitute teacher for Norwin, Penn-Trafford, Yough, and McKeesport School District.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have designed a classroom that supports these students in learning basic living skills, workshop skills, social skills, as well as, working on behavior goals. I have created IEP goals to match the needs of each student and I continually strive to ensure they succeed.
I have received my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Seton Hill Univeristy and I have experience in the general education classroom and Autistic support classroom. At the present time, I am teaching in a life skills classroom with students who have Autism. This position enables me to provide these students with the skills they will need to transition to independent living and employment. I am challenged to be creative, nurturing, and patient.
