A Little Bit About Me...

I was a full-time sixth grade teacher with the International Baccalaureate program for elementary, middle school students. I created a classroom environment that was conducive to learning, and independent study. Recognizing my capability and talent I was given the opportunity to teach math and computers to high school students and also science and computers to all grade levels. I volunteer at the Short Pump Elementary School as a Math Helper and I am very comfortable using the Promethean Board. Twice in 2 consecutive years I reached to the final round of awards as the best teacher of the year who showed innovation in teaching by the Intel. My most recent rewarding interaction with kids has been been the result of functioning as a mentor for the LC Bird High School robotics team. I've have been able to motivate many general students to join the “robotics geeks”. I find that all students have something valuable to add to the team if they are just approached and guided appropriately and offered respect. I can connect with each student on some level, whether it be academics, sports, science, or just humor.
