I like to share my passion that comes from the pure enjoyment of understanding a subject and sharing this passion with my students. As an engineer I try to show the practical application of concepts, and from my interests in history and literature I try to provide an historical context to the development of the concept being taught. I am currently both a adjunct Accounting instructor and a Accounting tutoring instructor with DeVry University. In previous years, I have been a full-time Accounting instructor at a community college. My full-time job is that of Associate Campus Director at a private school in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I have taught all accounting courses applicable to a Bachelor's degree, from Accounting Principles to Intermediate and Cost Accounting. I am also certified and have taught on-line accounting courses.
My teaching style is "hands-on" instruction. I enjoy teaching in a classroom environment. Face to face instruction supplemented with course materials is my preference. I have recently retired from the U.S. Army as a medic. During my service, I was frequently responsible for both formal and informal teaching and training. At the outset of the personal computer revolution I sold and supported Tandy computers. As part of the support function I instructed clients in the use of their computers. A whole new world blossomed for me. Teaching clients to use their computers turned out to be a long term and very rewarding experience. During my thirteen years as The Computer Tutor I encountered a multitude of student learning difficulties. After graduation I applied and got a teaching job and I taught at Skyview Middle School in District 49 for 4 years teaching Ancient Civilizations.
