A Little Bit About Me...

I have the ability to work with diverse students of all ages and levels. Whether the student is 15 or 50, I can help the him/her learn and feel comfortable around me. I possess the rare gift of patience which allows me to work with even the least confident student, or the most rambunctious! My teaching style aims at explaining and discovering the simplicity in every subject. I believe that everyone can understand a principle if both the student and teacher work hard together to identify the way to success.
During the completion of my BMA, I accepted a tutoring position and tutored all students (including disabled students) for two years. I have a strong interest in the sciences of the world. I earned a bachelor degree in ecology including a minor in botany. I also earned a Master degree in biology studying mountain quail. During my undergraduate and graduate education I participated in the GK-12 program as a scientist in residence. I spent 20 hours a week in the middle school and high school setting for two years. The purpose of the GK-12 program was to help increase scientific literacy in southern Idaho. I am keenly aware of the challenges that face middle school and high school students in grasping scientific concepts. I also taught biology at the college level and I have recognized that many students are at different levels of scientific understanding.
