A Little Bit About Me...

Most of my teaching experience is from one to one tutoring. I have tutored over 20 students and always received compliments regarding my reliability, punctuality, style and patience. I have tutored for students with ages raging from 14 to 25 years old and included algebra, geometry, calculus, physics, etc. I worked as an 8th grade math teacher for a Catholic School as well. I lectured algebra and geometry to 3 different groups of 50 to 55 students.
My one to one teaching style is tailored to adapt to the students learning style. However, my experience shows that keeping the student active during the learning process promotes a better learning. I use Microsoft Excel during my lessons. I create formulas, graphs, etc. and the Excel spreadsheet and ask the student to enter the data so that he/she can see how things change with different entries. I have taught every grade level from Pre-Kindergarten to college in my 30 years in the schools of Connecticut, New York, and Maryland. I was an assistant principal for six years, have taught both academic classroom core subjects and dramatic arts, and have written curriculum for a great variety of settings. I love teaching mathematics and writing, because they are logical and marvelous as life-long tools. I believe the same for reading and literature. Florida Writes is an assessment of writing proficiency which incorporates the assessment of higher order skills, since students are required to generate and develop the ideas that form the basis for their written responses. Looking for help? Select a tutor today. Beginning in 2010, each essay was scored by one rater. In previous years, two raters were used and the scores were averaged. Prior to 2010, a student could have received a half-point score, such as 4.5; whereas since 2010, no half-point scores are possible. Additionally, beginning in 2010, each student within the same grade level was required to write an essay using the same mode of writing (narrative, expository, or persuasive).
