Since learning is such an individual endeavor, I believe that flexibility is one of the most important ingredients for good teaching. A good teacher (or tutor) is responsive to the student's learning style, and indeed, to the student's mood during any given learning session. I feel that I am attuned to the cues that most students give and am able to respond with an a approach that would be most effective.
