I have had experience as a substitute teacher in a public school system, I have had numerous tutoring opportunities with children of all ages, including college level students. I have studied in the College of Education at Mississippi State University where I learned many effective teaching strategies for all ages of students.

From both my tutoring and teaching experience, I have concluded that each individual learns differently; therefore, I believe it is essential for teachers to discover each student’s learning style and teach them accordingly. I love the written word and reaching people, so I ultimately chose to major in journalism. My love for teaching and instructing students led me to pursue my minor in education. In the past three years, I've tutored undergraduates in writing (grammar, composition, etc), graduate students (editing theses), proofing resumes and technical documents, and tutoring elementary and high school students in reading and basic math.
College students are difficult to work with because they think they know it all. I have always valued the importance of a quality education and have encouraged friends with no college ambition to start working on their degrees. I am not, however, an elitist. I think every endeavor is a learning experience, but there are basic skills that are necessary to be successful, such as grammar, spelling, and professionalism. My experience in formal teaching is mostly in college-level public speaking and coaching Little League, but I am a proficient and tedious writer.
