My comments on tutoring French : My name is KOdzo Akoto.I am currently teaching French at Cocke County High School in Tennessee.I am a native French speaker and I have a bachelor degree in French. I also have an associate degree in English. I have two years experience in teaching French in high school and three years experience in tutoring elementary, intermediary, and advanced French students in a night school literacy program for adults (in Africa) who did not have the opportunity to attend regular school. I love teaching, and the positive effect that I always have on my students (meaning how they demonstrate the desire to learn more), helps me understand that this is the field in which I would like to spend my career.
Even though I am a native speaker, I decided to get a Bachelor degree in French, because I believe it is more professional to have a college degree in the subject that I want to teach, in addition to my previous experience. I passed the GACE basic skills and content assessment in French. I have different approaches to helping my students assimilate the materials that I want to transmit to them. I use common and familiar examples to help students better understand the content of the material, in a very friendly, non-intimidating environment.
