Basic Learning Skills is one of my top subjects!

I was a straight A student throughout school. I am currently a high school senior, so the information is still fresh in my mind. I have spent a few semesters as a tutor and volunteer assistant in a local elementary school. I enjoy working with children and being able to help them succeed in school, because without school, the future is bleak!

My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I have taught elementary students for 17 years.

I have taught in a first and second grade classroom for ten years, and served as a Reading Specialist for k-5 for seven. I have discovered that the most successful way to teach a child how to read is gaining their interest and full attention, while observing what learning style is best for each individual child. While teaching I use an assortment of manipulatives, repetitive phonics instruction, and books! Whatever works for your child, works for me! This is my first year not teaching in the public schools, and I am very familiar with the assessments and expectations. I have led professional development on mclass for K-3, and have years of successful experiences in preparing students for EOGs. The basics of style are very simple and can be distilled into one principle: a sentence, at its most basic level, is about actors and actions.
