I am currently an MSU physics and geological sciences double major and a 3rd year student. I am very proficient in math and most physics classes and love helping kids and/or peers in learning math in a way that will allow them to excel to the best of their ability. I am a math PhD student at Michigan State University with experience of teaching Calculus for 8 consecutive semester. Before that, back in my home, I have been teaching Algebra, Geometry and Discrete Math to high school students for more than 6 years. I have also several years of experience in teaching math preparation courses for student mathematics olympiads to smart and talented students. I usually start a topic by proposing a problem and making the student minds to think and naturally bringing up the concepts in the topic. Then I elaborate to explain the topic, usually drawing graphs, diagrams, etc. if necessary. To learn a specific skill, for example in Algebra or Calculus, I usually apply and explain the procedure for a few simple example and then explain the technique as a general procedure.

I also tutor Calculus III. I like to work one on one with students in a neutral location. Small groups are not out of the question however. When I was studying engineering at University of Michigan, I took a job as a tutor at Washtenaw Community College. This was the most rewarding job I ever had. Since about the year 2000, I have been working as a freelance tutor in the subjects of math, chemistry and physics. I also tutor students in engineering courses. I generally work with college students or upper-class high school students. Normally I work in the Brighton/Howell Michigan area. I meet most students at a public library or coffee shop. My average rate is $50 per hour. This can be negotiated, however. I like to take the students ability to pay into consideration and will charge less per hour if advanced payment can be arranged.

While an undergraduate at Michigan Technological University, I often helped fellow students with their physics or math homework. I try my best to make the student figure things out on their own, by giving simple guiding questions or comments. I do not like to simply do the problems for them, as I find most people do not learn well this way. I am patient and empathetic, and I understand what it is like to approach a problem from the position of a student who is confused or unsure. I try to give them the tools to understand basic problem solving and critical thinking. I went to school at EMU with the intention of getting a doctorate in Physics, to teach at the college level. I ended up getting a job in IT at the University, and found I enjoy this just as much. While a student, I volunteer tutored for the Society of Physics Students, and I tutor all the student employees I have when they are taking physics classes. I love teaching, and the students that I have tutored have excelled under my supervision.

Although a senior about 20 credits from my BS, I know I am qualified for this job. My passion for Chemistry rubs off on those around me. With a near 4.0 GPA, I always earn the top score in my class, only once did I get less than perfect on a Science test, a 99%. Students began asking for help. I believe the differences in the discovery process in each individual arouses creativity in the way problems are reasoned through which inspires each student intrinsically. I give quick, formative assessments to determine students' level of knowledge of the content, and their learning style. I provide instruction using open-ended question discussions, real world manipulative, multiple solutions for the same problem, and the promotion of self-regulated learning to help students gain ownership over their learning experiences. I love people's capacity for learning. It gives me joy to know that I have helped another learn something new. I am patient, relaxed, and try to keep tutoring interesting for the recipient.
