My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : I have taught reading comprehension for thirty years in various grades from Kindergarten to sixth grade.

I have tutored in both Robeson County and Cumberland County for a total of six years. I tutored students in math, reading and science from grades Kindergarten to sixth grade. We also prepared students in grades three through six for the End of the Year test. We taught test taking strategies as well. In addition, I have tutored students that attend college in American Government and World History. I also, tutored in GA for three years. There I tutored various age groups in writing, reading, math, test strategies, and Microsoft Office. Lastly, I currently tutor students of various ages in math, reading, science, social studies, and writing.

I always tried to keep my approach as grounded as possible so that even my least talented tutees could grasp the task at hand. For instance, I feel it important to always sound out the words on a page, making sure the words flow smoothly off the tongue and not just in the mind. I do this so that the writing style, while formal, is also practical and easily accessed by the student as they write. I also feel it best to not focus too strongly on a student's weaknesses, but to feel out their strengths so that they may use those strengths to really work out their difficulties. As a recent graduate of Lock Haven University, I have obtained dual bachelor's degrees in both Accounting and Business Administration. Throughout the course of my college career, I have completed several accounting related projects including auditing cases, creating financial statements, etc. I have helped several students with accounting classes over the past four years, completed an accounting internship and am very educated in the subject.
