I have a passion for working individually with students to find their personal learning styles so that they can succeed and excel academically. I encourage students to think through a problem and find a solution that works for their individual abilities and plays to their strengths. I believe learning should be fun and not a forced activity.
I began working as a Water Safety Instructor when I was 16 and taught swimming to people age 3 to age 76. I worked as a Teacher's Assistant at West Virginia university and taught my own section of a one credit course required of all freshmen students while working on a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. I try to create tasks that are hands-on, use authentic materials, and encourage students to collaborate with others and think outside of the box.
