'Retired' Biologist and Experienced Math Tutor

I have been teaching molecular biology to students and technicians in the laboratory for the past 12 years. In college I taught the human anatomy laboratory and a special research section to other undergraduates. I also tutored fellow students in College Algebra. I am currently tutoring students in math to prepare them for the GED.
I believe my job as a tutor is to find a way to help every student learn. I tell all my students if they don't understand the material, then I have to find another way to explain it. I believe anyone can learn math and science when the teaching is tailored to the students learning style.I will take the time to find the best learning style for your student and assign useful homework assignments. If your student is willing to work hard there is nothing we can't accomplish together.

My teaching style adapts to each individual I work with. I believe that one of the most important things to helping anyone learn is to instill in them the confidence that they can be successful. I believe that there are lots of different ways to learn, and I like helping people figure out what works for them. If someone wants to be successful and is willing to put in the work, I will find a way to help them achieve their goals.
As a graduate of the Air Force Academy and Harvard Business School, I know what it takes to achieve excellence in education. I have earned advanced degrees in Engineering and Business. My love of teaching and coaching brought me back to the Air Force Academy to coach and tutor college athletes in math, science, English, and French. I also have extensive writing and speaking experience and have helped many students with college essays and applications.
