A Little Bit About Me...

One of the first graduates of a dual degree program from Lesley College(www.lesley.edu),I received a BS/MEd in Early Childhood Education specializing in Early Intervention in 1999. Beginning in June of 1999, I raised my three children full-time. During that time, I worked part-time as a Therapeutic Mentor for PSC of Maine(www.provcorp.com). PSC is a behavioral health agency that serves at-risk school-aged children and their families. Soon after arriving in NC in 2008, I obtained my Birth-K teaching lisence and, in 2009, began teaching full-time for the More-at-Four Pre-K program(www.darecountyschoolsonline). I am returning to Maine with my family in July of 2011, as my husband is retiring from the USCG after 20 years of service.

I have worked with students who were given up on years before, but once the met me, they evolved and became what so many said they never would become, educated.Vgotsky talked about the zone of proximal development and potential. I believe I teach to reach the highest level of potential and often come very close. I am a fantastic Highly Qualified Educator who gives all I have and then finds where to get more when I run out of ideas.
The school of Education in North Carolina prepared me well. I am above all flexible. My license reads K-8 and I have taught Art K-6 for a year, Second Grade for two years in NC. I am currently a Biology Major at the University of Southern Maine. I have completed my degree requirements for my BS, I’m finishing up by taking an additional 9 credits this semester before walking for graduation in the Spring, May 2011. During my four years in college I have taken 11 laboratory courses, providing me with extensive knowledge and experience in writing research papers, lab reports and scientific reviews. I have experience in math, reaching a Calculus level; completion of upper level courses in Chemistry, Statistics, and Physics; a variety of liberal arts courses.
